A Word On Crispin Porter + Bogusky
Yes, we all know it and especially my monthly co-blogger. Crispin Porter + Bogusky is the place to go for creativity. No agency has grown a stronger position in the last few years on finding creative ways in all kinds of communications like no other. But over the last few month it seems that there is some trouble coming up down their in Miami.
Burt Helm over at Businessweek reports about the loss of CPB’s account of Miller Beer. And the reasons are of cause the sales. Some campaigns like this:
This might be “somehow” funny on the outside and are definatley creative, but if they actually move the sales is written on another paper. Beeing creative is one thing, but winning an Effie is something different.
Of cause over at AdRants, they are already ranting and raving.
Actually it’s a quite interesting discussion, in how far an agency might adapt to a client or if living the creativity is more important. Quite similar to the music industry and signing artists.
In the long run it might be better for both, Miller and CPB to have splitted. Miller will go back to some Beer & Babes Ads and Crispin Porter + Bogusky can focus on working with clients who need more creative input and allow them to do so.
Stumble it!
